Electronic Mail: Acceptable Use Policy

Sending email is generally a matter of common sense and courtesy. The majority of e-manumit.com's customers will have a proper sense of acceptable behaviour and so will have no difficulty in complying with this AUP.

Regrettably, sometimes email is sent or an action is taken which are regarded as unacceptable by the Internet community. This is referred to as "abuse".

There is currently no single document that defines proper and improper use of the email system. Acceptable behaviour is based on agreements between the administrators and owners of those computers and networks which exchange email. This AUP and its day to day application is based on consideration of both the formal and informal practices of the Internet community in which e-manumit.com participates.

It is not always easy to determine whether an unacceptable activity has been carried out innocently, inadvertently, or intentionallly. However, the activities described below will result in action being taken by e-manumit.com.

If abuse occurs e-manumit.com will take appropriate action in order to limit any ongoing damage and retain the confidence of the Internet community, which could adversely affect the ability of e-manumit.com's customers to exchange email.

e-manumit.com provides email services as part of the package of Internet access services. e-manumit.com reserves the right to change this AUP for email services at its sole discretion and without prior notice. Any decision made by e-manumit.com in relation to this service will be final on all matters.

e-manumit.com will enforce appropriate sanctions against any of its customers who are responsible for serious "abuse". Such sanctions may include, but are not limited to, a formal warning, suspension of email access through e-manumit.com's computers, suspension of access to the Internet through e-manumit.com, or termination of the customer's account(s).

If a suspension of access is imposed, then this may be lifted, at e-manumit.com's discretion, upon receipt of a formal written undertaking not to commit any future "abuse". All cases are, however, considered individually upon their merits.
